A Poetry Moment

Abandoned and Bruised
By Katherine Evans

Precious kitten in the snow
Whose baby are you, I'd like to know.
Left alone in the big, cold outside
Not purring a heart open wide.

Sweet little puppy on the road
Running and chasing a little toad.
Why do you only have 3 legs?
And why so afraid of chicken eggs?

Critters cannot speak at all
Yet they hurt when we take that fall.
Beating, yelling all unneeded
Their inner tears go unheeded.
